Beginning of our service

Hi guys...I am testing this out. As you probably know, Cass is WAY more technically inclined than I am. Please bear with me! And big ups to Cass for setting all this stuff up!!

Apparently if you want to sign up for updates you can put your e-mail in in the box to the right and it will magically send you updates from us. Hooray! I think you could also use RSS to get this into your Google Reader somehow, or link our blog to your blogger.com blog. Blog blog blog blog.

We leave on October 27th for staging in Philly. That means you have 6 days left to get a piece of this. Let us know if you want to see us in ATL before we leave!

Also, here are some helpful terms as we embark on this adventure:

PCT = Peace Corps Trainee
PCV = Peace Corps Volunteer
PST = Pre-Service Training
RPCV = Returned Peace Corps Volunteer
APCD = Associate Peace Corps Director (they run your sector, eg "health APCD")
Staging = Our pre-training-training in Philadelphia where we get shots and figure out student loans (I hope)
Bamako = The capital of Mali
SSA = Sub-Saharan Africa

I'm sure we will learn more as we go!

Here is what we have done so far in the past few weeks:
-procrastinate on packing
-work on writing manuscripts for publication from the Kenya/thesis project
-work for money
-travel to FL to see our folks and give Cass's parents the adorable but silly Cattfink
-see Amelia and Derek get married
-have an impromptu dinner party
-give Cass's car to his parents
-go to Busch Gardens
-hang out with Josh, Laura, Kevin, Veronica, Hannah, and Tom (thank you all for hosting us, SERIOUSLY)
-have lunch with cool MailChimp people today
-drink beer, eat pizza and sushi, and gain probably 10 lbs in the process

Hooray! It's been a fun but hectic few weeks. We love all of you guys so much, thanks for hanging with us and supporting us. More to come very soon!

Love,
Carolyn (and Cass)

PS: Cass says, "I think it is very well-written, Carolyn, and I approve of this message." In a British accent. Also: "You don't have to add that. Only if you want to. Are you including it?" *giggle* "Now you're including laugh."
